WEST MIDDLESEX HOSPITAL

Working with the 'Art For Health' Charity CW+ - Maddy was commissioned to refresh the Paediatric Accident & Emergency Department of West Middlesex Hospital.
The brief was to design bright, fun imagery that is relevant to the local surrounding area of West London. The illustrations needed to be suitable for a wide age range of young patients - from babies to teenagers.
The image below is the main waiting room area.
The hospital requested a design that would create privacy for the patients waiting, but required the room to still be viewable by the Receptionist outside.
The illustrations are loosely based on the beautiful 'Old Deer Park' which is a short walk from the hospital. The natural subject promotes calm and wellbeing and a perfect distraction point for young patients.

West Middlesex Hospital is very near Heathrow, so planes were an absolute
must in the illustrations! These illustrations were designed for the walls of the treatment cubicles, to give the patients a form of distraction and also a talking point for the staff to engage them with.

The famous Twickenham Rugby Stadium.

The Kew Pier where you can catch the ferry boat along the River Thames.

The treetop walk at Kew Gardens & the grounds of Kew Gardens .

These images were printed onto a semi-opaque vinyl and applied to interior windows within a treatment cubicles to create privacy for the patients.
